Does God Hear Me?

by va on Mar.18, 2008, under Presence of God, Trisha

Sometimes it seems as though God doesn’t even hear me. I cry out for more and more of Him but He seems to be nowhere around. I call on Him. I pace my room searching for Him, crying out, “Please Lord speak to me!” But I hear nothing. My requests seem void. I feel too lowly, too insignificant, and too weak to hear from the God of the universe.

Why do I feel this way? Why can’t I press through? What is it that stops me from hearing from God? If He is the one who wants to speak to me so badly then why can’t I hear Him?

The answer: I’ve been misinformed, bogged down by man’s opinions, so filled with them in fact that it is nearly impossible for me to hear his voice. People say that He no longer speaks to man; He no longer shows himself in dreams and visions. He doesn’t really even guide your way at all, but instead watches you as if you were a mouse running blindly through a maze, searching and stumbling on your own the whole way while he sits high on his throne watching.

Lies. The church has fed us lies. God does speak, and He does so loud and clear. He shows himself through His creation, He speaks prophetically to us through his people, and He shows us mental pictures, entertains us with dreams. He speaks to us through any means possible through any thing that might grab our attention. We aren’t the only ones in this desperate search to find Him; He is searching for us to hear! It’s what we have been taught that keeps us from his sweet voice.

“We don’t believe that God speaks that way.” “It’s too crazy.” “I’m making it up in my mind.” “No way could that have been God.” “He only speaks through his Word.” STOP!!!! Forget everything you have been taught. Turn back to when you knew nothing and seek out God for yourself. Unsure if what you heard is from Him? Look in the manual He gave us, The Bible. If it is lining up biblically then it was probably Him trying to reveal something to you.

You don’t have to yell and shout to get God’s attention. Just ask, allow Him to speak to you, and when He does listen even if it isn’t the way you wanted it. Allow Him to speak.

Stick close to Jesus, seek Him, and love Him. Keep it simple and enjoy the ride

Want to thank Pam for praying and her fellowship with me ! I want to stay on this wonderful high. Want to feel the goodness that I once felt. Times are tough for so many and I really think that things will get much tougher. Knowing that there are like minded people is a blessing. Make me promise Lord that I will try with my heart and soul to do what is right for you so that it will be right for me. Again my heart felt thanks Val
